FAQs
Answers to common questions about our gift boxes, shipping information, and how we can help you show your love and support during this challenging time.
Q: What items are included in your care boxes?
A: Each Cancer Care Box is thoughtfully curated with items specifically chosen to provide comfort and support during chemotherapy treatment. If you check out the ingredients pages, you can see exactly what is in each item and where it's come from.
This isn't medicine - that comes from the doctors. These items are chosen primarily for their moisturising potential - because one of the side effects of most chemo is that it tends to really dry out your skin and nails.
The side effects from different kinds of Chemo can be varied and affect people in different ways. Take a look at the links on the supporting someone page to read more about it.
Q: How do I know which box is right for my loved one?
A: We understand how important it is to choose the right gift for someone going through chemotherapy. We currently offer three specially curated boxes, showcasing products from Australia and two with locally made and sourced products from New Zealand.
Remember that the important thing is that you are showing you care by sending something that your special person will know was sent with their wellbeing in mind.
The right box is the one YOU chose.
Q: Are the items included in the gift boxes safe for chemotherapy patients?
A: Each product is carefully selected for its gentle, as natural as possible, formulation and should be safe for use during chemotherapy. We've consulted with a cancer centre nurse, these items should be fine for the majority of people.
When starting a chemo journey, patients will normally discuss current medications and things like vitamins and supplements with their doctor or nurse. Topical products like these can easily be checked with the care team as well.
But we do know that everyone is unique, so if products do cause any type of irritation, it's a good idea to stop using them immediately - and this is typically also noted on the packaging.
We also include a note in our boxes for the recipient to check with their care team.
Q: When is the best time to send this care package?
A: The Australia and New Zealand Boxes can be sent at any stage of treatment. Remember a gift like this is really a way of saying that your special person is in your thoughts - which doesn't really have a time limit.
Q: How are the products packaged?
A: Each Giftbox is carefully assembled with products securely packaged to help ensure they arrive in tip top condition. We use environmentally conscious packaging materials wherever we can.
The boxes come with a simple logo label - no text. Inside they are wrapped in tissue paper and if you've chosen to include a card, this will be placed on top.
There will be a small note listing each item and it's ingredients inside the box, suggesting to the recipient to check with their care team if they have any concerns - this is a standard thing when starting chemo.
Q: Can I customize the box?
A: Currently, both our Australia and New Zealand Boxes come as a carefully curated set. If you would like to purchase any of the items individually, please do feel free to find the retail site per the brand name listed in the ingredients pages.
Q: Why should I buy this box over flowers?
Great question! Flowers are definitely lovely, but when you go through chemo, there is quite a flurry when people find out, but as time and treatments carry on, the side effects can start to happen long after the flowers have been composted.
By sending a wee box of things that can help soothe some known side effects, your special person will know that you've thought about them going through the treatment by sending a gift that will last a bit longer and might even help with some of the common side effects that tend to appear after a few sessions of treatment, rather than right at the beginning.
Q: Why is shipping included for Australian & NZ, but there is a shipping cost on top for the UK?
Our boxes are assembled in NZ and in Australia. We've included the local shipping price to make it easier for people to just click and buy. We don't have any mark up on the postage costs.
For the UK, the GBP15 is how much it costs approximately to send a parcel of this size to the UK via tracked shipping from both NZ and Australia. Again we don't have a mark up on the shipping cost and this is approximately what the local shipping company charge us and we are making a round number which is easy to understand.
We use local carriers and delivery times can depend on the postal services at both ends. We send via tracked mail, so we can see where things are if needed.
